Vice Presidents - About Us
The WBRFC Vice Presidents
Wootton Bassett run a healthy Vice Presidents section whose aims are to support the club on and off the field in any way possible.
Home Lunches
Each season four home lunches are held prior to important league or cup fixtures. Between 50 and 80 Vice Presidents, Life Members and Guests attend. They enjoy a fine meal, rugby camaraderie and yes, a few beers before cheering on the North Wiltshire All Blacks.
"Away Day"
A recent innovation has seen the inauguration of an annual "Away Day" were the Vice Presidents travel to support the club at an away league fixture. This is always a well supported and enjoyable occasion.
Our Leader
The Vice Presidents are currently led by former club skipper George Loughlin who is assisted by numerous volunteers.
Our Former Leader
The section was previously led by veteran Alan 'Wing Commander' Belding who remains a legend in his own lifetime. He lectures on a wide variety of subjects among the most interesting being Chemical Toilet facilities in coaches and Motorway Coning Arrangements in Southern England. On both subjects, given a fair hearing he is perfectly capable of boring you senseless
We welcome all local rugby fans (wherever you once played or supported) just email gmloughlin@talktalk.net and you will be contacted in the hope that you can join us
If you have just moved into the North Wiltshire/Swindon area then this is a great chance to meet rugby fans like yourself, have an enjoyable meal, meet rugby people like yourself and watch a great game!
Reunion Lunch
A couple of ex-players have asked about the possibility of running a reunion lunch in co-ordination with one of the Vice President Lunches scheduled for 2009. If you are an ex-player who might be interested in this please email george Loughlin gmloughlin@talktalk.net
